Gurban Mammadov calls opponents of the regime to cut hair bare
The lawyer Gurban Mammadov condemned physical pressure on youth activists Turgut Gambar, Abulfaz Gurbanly and Ilkin Rustamzade in the temporary detention facility (TDF) for participating in a protest under the slogan "No terror" on April 30.
Young people were arrested during a protest in connection with the fourth anniversary of the massacre of the Oil Academy, and have been sentenced to 10 days of administrative arrest.
In the Binagadi TDF the arrested were forcibly shorn bald.
In solidarity with the arrested the lawyer Mammadov also cut his hair bare.
"Let all the young people, all citizens who are in opposition to the regime cut their hair bare, like me, and go out to the streets. It will be our protest.
Let the world see how many opponents of the regime are in Azerbaijan. Otherwise, without solidarity and consolidation, we will not be able to stop the arbitrariness of the regime," Mammadov said in an interview with Turan.
Until society is silent against the abuses of young people, embezzlement of the state budget, national wealth, the extent of arbitrariness and lawlessness in Azerbaijan will grow, and it will not be possible to live.
"I call on all of you to prove citizenship," said Mammadov.
He also noted that the Azerbaijani authorities organized on April 30 in Baku big concert and international football match showing disrespect to the memory of the victims of mass murder in the Oil Academy. -16D-
