Head of Operations to Disperse Opposition Rallies Becomes General
On the eve of the Police Day celebrated on July 2 Ilham Aliyev awarded three police colonels a higher rank of Major-General of Police. Among them, there is the Deputy Chief of Baku City Police Sahlab Baghirov. It is this officer that has led police operations to disperse protesters with particular zeal, personally giving orders on arrests of oppositionists directly on the spot.
Among the new Generals there also are Deputy Interior Minister of NAR Sabuhi Novruzov and the head of the National Central Bureau of Interpol Mehman Tahmazov.
Aliyev also awarded a large group of police with medals. -06D -
