Heads of "Abzas Media" banned from phone calls and meetings with loved ones in pre-trial detention center
Baku/25.11.23/Turan: The investigation imposed a ban on telephone conversations and visits with their loved ones to the director and editor-in–chief of the online publication "Abzas Media" - Ulvi Hasanli and Sevinj Vagifgyzy, who were arrested in Azerbaijan. This was reported by their lawyers.
"Ulvi Hasanli has no complaints about the conditions of detention. However, according to the investigator's decision, he was banned from telephone conversations and visits with relatives. We consider this ban unreasonable and will file a complaint," lawyer Zibeida Sadygova told Turan.
"The investigation illegally restricted Sevinj Vagifgyzy's right to telephone conversations and meetings with loved ones. We will appeal this decision. Sevinj Vagifgyzy has no complaints about the conditions of detention, but she rejects the accusation and connects it with her journalistic investigations," the lawyer of the journalist Agyl Lahij said in turn.
Add that appeals have been filed against the arrests of both journalists.
Relatives of activist Mohammad Kekalov, who was also arrested in this case, said they did not yet have information about whether he was also banned from phone calls and visits with relatives.
At the same time, they noted that M.Kekalov has never called his family since his arrest.
The activist's family also stressed that his arrest will be appealed to the Court of Appeal. –06B-
