Baku/24.10.22/Turan: Relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia have reached the level of alliance, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated at the end of negotiations with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili in Tbilisi.
He stressed that Baku and Tbilisi constantly support each other within the framework of international organizations. At the same time, the projects implemented by Azerbaijan and Georgia are of great importance not only for the two countries, but also for Europe. In this context, he pointed to Azerbaijan's plans to increase gas exports to Europe.
Touching upon economic cooperation, Aliyev noted that this year the volume of cargo transportation between Azerbaijan and Georgia has increased by 75%.
The Georgian Prime Minister, in turn, noted that the situation in the region and in the world was discussed at the meeting, taking into account the war in Ukraine. “We talked about many issues related to cooperation between our countries. We also considered the difficult situation in the world. Naturally, we touched on the situation in the region and everyone agrees that what is happening in Ukraine should be regulated through negotiations,” Novosti-Georgia quoted Garibashvili. According to him, the parties also touched upon the agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia on the start of a peaceful negotiation process.
Tbilisi supports the Neighborly Peace Initiative for the South Caucasus. It does not contradict or replace any other format of cooperation, on the contrary, it will help, and I believe that together we will do a lot of important things.” --06B--
