IlgarMammadov: I will not give up!

He criticized the resolution adopted by the European Union last week in connection with Azerbaijan.I. Mammadov stressed that the European Parliament adopted resolutions in 2013 and 2014, demanding from the Azerbaijani government his immediate and unconditional release.

"The current resolution of the European Parliament means distancing from the previous position of this structure. Since according to the most optimistic forecasts of the official EU representative, the signing of the agreement is forecasted in autumn 2019, and the ratification of the agreement will be, in the best case in 2020. Thus, the European Parliament gave IlhamAliyev the opportunity to keep me in custody until the end of my falsified sentence,"said IlgarMammadov.

At the end of his statement, the politician wrote "The European Parliament has surrendered, I will not give up!"

Currently, Azerbaijan and the EU are working on a partnership agreement. Last week, the European Parliament put forward 8 conditions for signing the agreement. One of the conditions - Azerbaijan should release political prisoners and prisoners of conscience before the end of the discussions. Otherwise, the European Parliament will not ratify the agreement.

Mammadov was arrested and sentenced to 7 years of imprisonment after the excitement in the city of Ismayilli in January 2013.

Despite the ECHR has taken two decisions on the illegality of the arrest and imprisonment of Mammadov, the Azerbaijani authorities continue to keep him in prison.-06D-
