Baku/02.06.21/Turan: President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping had a telephone conversation on June 2. This was reported by the press service of the President of Azerbaijan.
The heads of state noted with satisfaction that during the COVID-19 pandemic, Azerbaijan and China overcame difficulties and supported each other, demonstrating true friendship. President Ilham Aliyev thanked the Chinese President for his support in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
It was noted that Azerbaijan and China successfully cooperate in political, economic and transport-logistics spheres. The President noted that Azerbaijan was ready to further strengthen ties with China and welcomed the further expansion of Chinese companies in Azerbaijan.
Xi Jinping stressed that Sino-Azerbaijani relations are on the threshold of a new historical stage, noting that the two countries are developing traditional friendship, deepening cooperation and increasing mutual support. The Chinese President stressed that Azerbaijan is an important partner in the implementation of the "One Belt One Road" initiative and China supports the path of development chosen by the Azerbaijani people.
The heads of state noted that 2022 will mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, and this significant event will allow for the further development of relations between the two countries.
The heads of state stressed the importance of coordinating activities within the development of the "One Belt One Road" project of the two countries and taking advantage of existing opportunities. They also noted the need to deepen cooperation between the two countries in the field of transport and logistics, to promote the creation of transport corridors in Central Asia and Europe.
Xi Jinping said that Chinese companies are ready to further encourage investment in Azerbaijan and develop cooperation in infrastructure projects. At the same time, he stressed that China intends to import high quality special products from Azerbaijan.
During the conversation, it was noted that the two countries are ready to make joint efforts to promote the development of comprehensive strategic partnership.
The heads of state expressed mutual support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of their countries.
