Ilham Aliyev criticizes the EU for unfair distribution of aid to the countries of the region
Baku/23.07.21/Turan: President Ilham Aliyev called the EU's stand on financial aid to the countries of the region as "unfair". In an interview with AzTV state television, he commented on reports about allocation of 2.6 billion euro to Armenia and Georgia - 2.3 billion euro.
"As for Azerbaijan, a figure of 150 million euro was announced. However, we were not told what the funds had been allocated for, when they would be provided and on what conditions. Beyond any doubt, I think this position is unfair, for Azerbaijan is the South Caucasus' largest country in terms of territory, population, and potential. So far, the countries of the South Caucasus have not been provided with so great funds. That suggests that the funds are provided after the war. In other words, the reason for these funds' provision is the war," Aliyev said.
At the same time, he drew attention to the fact that Azerbaijan is the country most affected by war. The territory of Azerbaijan of 10, 000 square kilometers "has fully been destroyed by Armenian vandals," the President said.
Note that hundreds of thousands of mines were laid, all buildings, historical monuments, and the entire infrastructure destroyed. At the same time, the money is provided to Armenia where there are nether destructions nor mined territories.
Aliyev made it clear that he had discussed this topic with Charles Michel. "The answer was that Azerbaijan seemingly needed no money. First, no one offered them to us. Aren’t we going to restor the liberated lands? We need billions of dollars, should they fall from the sky? Yes, we are a self-provided country. But if we, like Armenia, are provided with funds, we'll never refuse, "Aliyev said.—06D-
