Ilham Aliyev on the priorities of cooperation with Iran
Baku/25.01.22/Turan: The construction of the Zangezur corridor is progressing successfully, President Ilham Aliyev said on Tuesday, receiving Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development Rustam Gasimi via videoconference. Aliyev noted, in general, after the end of the Patriotic War (the second Karabakh war), a favorable situation for cooperation developed in the region. “A very promising 3+3 platform has been created for regional cooperation. The first meeting has already taken place. I am sure that these meetings will be held regularly and will ensure the interests of the countries of the region,” Aliyev said.
He expressed hope that Iranian companies would actively work in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan - in Karabakh and East Zangezur. "The Ministry of Economy has been given relevant instructions, preliminary talks have been held with the Iranian side, and now we are waiting for concrete results," he said.
The head of state stressed that construction work is underway on the territory of over 10 thousand square meters. km. “There is a successful construction of both the road and the railway. We also receive good news from Armenia. Armenia also plans to launch these works on its territory,” he further noted.
Among the priorities of cooperation at the meeting were the creation of the North-South transport corridor, the construction of the Khudaferinskaya hydroelectric power station and the bridge across the Astarachay River. The Iranian minister, for his part, said that on January 24 he visited the liberated areas and got acquainted with the progress of construction and restoration work.
According to him, Tehran intends to expand cooperation in all areas with all neighboring countries, especially with Azerbaijan. -D06-.
