Ilham Aliyev Receives Head of Russian Orthodox Church
Baku / 14.11.9 / Turan: On November 14, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill participating in the Second Baku Summit of Religious Leaders of the World.
Aliyev, noting the importance of the forum, emphasized that "a lot depends on the words of representatives of world religions." “A word can heal, a word can hurt, and a word can kill. Therefore, such a consensus, which was voiced today in all speeches, is encouraging that we will jointly promote the values of humanism, cooperation, peace, and mutual understanding,” Aliyev said.
Azerbaijan, for its part, is contributing to the achievement of these goals by conducting many humanitarian events related to the development of intercultural dialogue.
Kirill also praised the holding of the summit of world religious leaders in Baku and touched on the Azerbaijani-Russian relations.
“God grant that relations between Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation develop. Indeed, these countries interact very closely. You know how big the Azerbaijani diaspora is in Moscow. This is a significant part of our Moscow life. God grant that all these factors work for the common good,” Kirill said. —06D-
