Ilham Aliyev Receives Turkish Military Leaders
Baku/26.06.18/Turan: Today President Ilham Aliyev received the Chief of the General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces Hulusi Akar and the Minister of Defense Nurettin Canikli.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the prospects for cooperation between the two countries.
Ilham Aliyev conveyed congratulations on the victory of Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the elections held in Turkey and stressed that this victory is a manifestation of the value given by the people to the work done by the President of Turkey in recent years.
The President expressed his confidence that friendly and fraternal relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey will develop in all spheres, including in the field of defense.
During the meeting, the sides discussed prospects for bilateral relations between the two countries.

On January 14, the Khatai District Court in Baku rejected the defense's request to transfer Meydan TV journalist Khayala Agaeva to house arrest, her lawyer, Nazim Musaev reported. According to the lawyer, there are no material or procedural grounds for keeping the journalist in custody. The defense plans to file an appeal.

Moscow highly values the development of its relations with Baku, which are characterized by trust, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated at a press conference on Tuesday. "As for Russian-Azerbaijani relations, I assess them very highly. They are based on trust, and the presidents communicate regularly; there are no topics that are off-limits," he noted.
