Injustice Undermines Faith in State
Azerbaijan has conducted a very serious fight against corruption and bribery. This phenomenon is not just to evaluate and make appropriate orders. This was stated by the Head of State, speaking at the opening of the judicial complex in Shaki on November 4.
Ilham Aliyev noted that the work on this issue is in three directions. "Of course, to carry out administrative measures of punishment. Recently, the Azerbaijani public is witnessing the fact that, regardless of the position occupied in society, those who violate the law in connection with corruption and bribery seriously penalized.
No one in society can ever be untouchable. All are equal before the law, and punishment will continue, said Aliyev.
At the same time, he noted the need for systemic, institutional reforms. "We need to narrow the space for corruption. Such reforms should be carried out and it has already begun, it is necessary to reduce the space for corruption and eliminate this phenomenon," he said.
"First and foremost, it is necessary to completely eliminate cases of corruption in the judicial system because it is unacceptable," said Aliyev.
According to him, the process of reforming the judicial system is progressing well. In particular, he noted the work of the Judicial Council. The reforms have led to the strengthening of the judicial system and increasing transparency.
"In recent years, Azerbaijan is an accelerated process of building the rule of law. The main role here is played by the courts. Decreased number of appeals against decisions of the courts. It says that court decisions are mostly taken out fairly.
We always study the public opinion – the presidential administration and other state bodies. There is reason to assert that in recent years in this area there are positive changes," said Aliyev, noting the role of e-courts.
All new judicial complex has an electronic court system, and it is a very serious reform, judicial decisions must be fair. Everything in life is to be built on justice. Violation of justice can create resentment and hinder the successful development of the country. Justice strengthens the trust of citizens in the state," he said.
In particular, he referred to violations of the rights of entrepreneurs by state officials, calling it "a terrible phenomenon." There the seizure of their property, business, and extortion by threats. Courts should give it an adequate assessment, concluded Aliyev. -03D-
