Iran and Georgia called Baku and Yerevan for restraint
The Foreign Ministers of Iran and Georgia called on Armenia and Azerbaijan to negotiate to reach agreement on a ceasefire.
The conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan has no military solution, IRNA news agency quoted the Iran Foreign Ministry spokesman Marzieh Afham.
Marzieh Afham regretted the death of soldiers in the recent clashes and urged both sides to show restraint.
In turn, the Georgian Foreign Minister said in an interview with reporters that Tbilisi is following with great concern what is happening between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
"I am fully convinced that neither our region nor the world needs another conflict defrosted, another hotbed of tension, and therefore I am convinced that the leaders of the two countries will find a common language and will be able to transfer the conflict to a peaceful solution," the Georgian Foreign Minister stressed.
"As far as I know, a meeting between the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Armenia has already been scheduled, and it gives me hope that the conflict will be settled," said the head of the Georgian Foreign Ministry.
According to unconfirmed reports, the Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan are scheduled to meet in Sochi on August 8-9. -02D-
