Iran assures that the security of the Azerbaijani Embassy will be fully ensured
Baku/10.07.23/Turan: The Iranian authorities assure that the Azerbaijani Embassy in Tehran will be fully secured, the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Iran, Nasser Kanani said today. "Iran is aware of its responsibility and will act responsibly. Naturally, the embassy of this country (Azerbaijan in Tehran - IF) will be protected as much as possible," the Iranian Tansim agency quoted Kanani.
*Relations between Baku and Tehran began to deteriorate after Iran sharply opposed the Zangezur corridor project last year and began conducting military exercises near the borders with Azerbaijan. Iranian politicians also began to threaten Azerbaijan because of the decision to open an embassy in Israel.
Relations finally deteriorated after an armed attack on the Azerbaijani embassy in Tehran on January 27 this year, which resulted in the death of a diplomatic mission employee and the wounding of two more. After that, Azerbaijan evacuated its embassy, leaving only the Consulate General in Tabriz.
However, recently Tehran has begun to take diplomatic steps to normalize relations. Baku makes it a condition for this to identify and punish all those involved in the terrorist attack against the Azerbaijani embassy. ---06B---
