Iranian Foreign Ministry warned transport workers not to travel to Karabakh
Baku/20.10.21/Turan: On October20, the Iranian Mehr agency announced a ban on transport companies of this country from entering Karabakh and the Lachin region of Azerbaijan.
The agency said that the director of the Iranian International Transport Department, Mohammad Javad Khedayati, sent a special appeal to the trade unions of international transport companies. Referring to the directive of the Iranian Foreign Ministry dated October 9, he warned that his organization would regard any entry into the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan from outside the official borders of this country as a violation of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
In particular, the appeal mentions a ban on entry to Nagorno-Karabakh and Lachin regions of the Republic of Azerbaijan through Armenia. The signing of any trade agreement with the Nagorno-Karabakh region and the issuance of accompanying documents to this region to transport companies is also prohibited, the report said.
Thus, Tehran took into account Baku’s demands, which it didn’t want to do earlier. We will wait how these requirements will be complied with by the Iranian carriers.
The Iranian trucks directly transported goods to Karabakh, ignoring the opinion of Baku. In response, Azerbaijani customs began levying a $ 360 duty on the Iranians to travel along a section of the road from Armenia to Azerbaijan. In addition, two truck drivers were arrested for ignoring the warning not to travel to Karabakh anymore. -02B-
