Baku/09/09.09.23/Turan: Azerbaijani Defence Minister Zakir Hasanov received a delegation of the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran headed by Major General Mohammad Ahadi on September 9.
The Iranian delegation arrived in Baku to participate in the meeting of the joint Azerbaijani-Iranian military commission.

During the talks Hasanov told the Iranian delegation about the recent increase in the number of provocations committed by illegal Armenian armed formations in Karabakh and the decisive suppression of these provocations by units of the Azerbaijani army.
Head of the Iranian delegation Ahadi conveyed the greetings of chief of staff of the Iranian armed forces, Mohammad Hossein Bagheri. He pointed out that Azerbaijani-Iranian relations are based on ancient historical roots and stressed the importance of mutual visits amid the "expansion of friendly neighbourly relations".
Having voiced satisfaction with reconstruction and construction works in the territories liberated by Azerbaijan, the Iranian delegation expressed their concern over Armenia's activities, which may jeopardise stability and security in the region.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the prospects of developing military cooperation between the two countries, regional security issues, as well as other topics of mutual interest.
Wishing the members of the Azerbaijan-Iran Joint Commission success in their activities, Hasanov expressed hope that such meetings would make a positive contribution to the bilateral military cooperation. -06В-

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) today issued five rulings on applications from Azerbaijan. The case of "Afgan Mammadov v. Azerbaijan" concerned the complainant's exclusion from the Bar Association. Mammadov was expelled based on a complaint filed by a colleague, which he considered unjust. The ECHR ruled that Mammadov's rights had been violated and ordered Azerbaijan to pay him €5,000 in compensation for moral damage and €1,000 to cover legal costs.
