It is Armenia's irreconcilable position that impedes peace and security in the region – Azerbaijan Foreign Ministry
Baku/18.06.21/Turan: Armenia, Before accusing anyone of violating international law, it'd be better for Armenia itself to respect it, a commentary of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry noted due to the statement of the Armenian Foreign Ministry regarding the Shusha Declaration.
"Claiming that the Shusha Declaration signed by the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Turkey is directed against the Armenian people, the Armenian Foreign Ministry is loath to recognize that it is the decades-long aggressive policy of this country, its territorial claims to the territory of a neighboring state, the policy serving interests od small group of people which is directed against the Armenian people. The irreconcilable position of Armenia is the main obstacle to ensure peace and security in the region, "the press service of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said.
Speaking about fundamental international legal norms, including the sovereignty of states, the territorial integrity and inviolability of state borders, at a time when Armenia itself has been violating these norms for decades, is "the last stage of hypocrisy," the press release says.
"Armenia, which refers to international law, must, first of all, treat it with respect,"the message continues.
The Azerbaijan Foreign Ministry emphasizes that Armenia which rejects the platform of cooperation proposed by the leaders of Azerbaijan and Turkey, presenting it as a "danger to the Armenian people" and a "threat to the region", openly demonstrates how far it is from striving for peace, cooperation and development.
After the de-occupation of the territories of Azerbaijan, "a new situation has emerged in the region, and unique opportunities for regional cooperation have appeared." "To realize this situation and take advantage of the cooperation or reject it, is the decision of Armenia. As stated in the Shusha Declaration, Azerbaijan and Turkey will, in turn, continue their joint efforts to ensure global and regional peace, stability and security in line with principles and norms of international law, including the UN Charter,"the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said in conclusion.—06D-
