Jamil Guliyev became CEO of ITV
The Council of Public Television (ITV) Broadcast today conducted the election of the CEO. This post was claimed by four candidates - Jamil Guliyev (head of TV channel "Culture"), Shamil Shafiev, Nijat Mustafayev and Emin Huseynov (Director of the Institute for Reporters Freedom and Safety). The turnout was 8 of the 9 members of the Board of Broadcasting.
According to the voting, Guliyev gained 8 votes "for" and was elected CEO of ITV.
The Director of IRFS expressed disagreement with the procedures of the election and said ge would not recognize the election results. He pointed to the illegality of interference in the election process by the management of the National Broadcasting Council.
Huseynov said the election results are illegitimate and he intends to file a complaint with the court, and an appeal to the European Broadcasting Union.
Jamil Guliyev graduated from the USSR State Institute of Cinematography, specializing as film director. He worked at the studio Azerbaijanfilm, and served as director of the State Film Fund. In the past two years he led the TV channel Culture. -06/16D-
