Joint statement by leaders of religious confessions of Azerbaijan
Baku/16.10.20/Turan: The leaders of the religious confessions of Azerbaijan today adopted a joint statement in connection with the Karabakh conflict.
The document says that the country's religious leaders, headed by the Caucasus Muslims Office (CMO), have always tried to prevent the transition of the conflict to the religious plane and to promote its fair settlement.
At various times, meetings and negotiations were held with representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church, the All-Georgian Patriarchate, and the Armenian Church.
After the outbreak of hostilities on September 27, the CMO, together with other religious confessions, expressed support for the leadership of Azerbaijan.
The CMO informed the religious leaders of Russia, Georgia, the leadership of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the UN Secretary General about the essence of the events.
At the same time, the Armenian authorities constantly tried to present the conflict as inter-religious. Using religious feelings for political purposes, the Armenian side is trying to play on religious sympathy and get the full support of various states of the world.
The authors of the appeal call on the heads of state of the world to spare no effort for a peaceful settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict within the framework of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
The statement was signed by the head of the CMO, Sheikh ul Islam Allahshukur Pashazadeh, Archbishop of the Baku diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church, Father Alexander, head of the Community of Mountain Jews Milikh Yevdaev, head of the Community of European Jews in Azerbaijan Alexander Sharovsky, head of the Albanian-Udi church Robert Mobili. — 06D-
