The reason for the action is the refusal of the Supreme Court to consider his complaint, as well as a ban on communication on the phone with loved ones. The organization wrote about this on its Twitter account.
Aslanov who was convicted in April 2021 for 16 years on charges of treason, was recognized as a political prisoner.
In turn, the Committee to Protect Journalists also on Twitter called on the Azerbaijani authorities to immediately release Aslanov.

In Azerbaijan, there is a need to adopt an Amnesty Act, said Siyavush Novruzov, the head of the parliamentary committee on regional issues, during a session of the Milli Majlis on February 3. He reminded that since independence, Azerbaijan has adopted 13 amnesty acts and over 70 pardoning decrees. "The parliament can once again put forward such an initiative and prepare an amnesty act by Independence Day (May 28)," Novruzov said.
