Journalistic organizations condemn the violation of P. Aslanov's rights
Baku/12.01.22/Turan: Reporters Without Borders and the Committee to Protect Journalists condemned the violation of the rights of the editor of the website xaberman.com, who on January 6 began a hunger strike in colony number 1. The reason for the action is the refusal of the Supreme Court to consider his complaint, as well as a ban on communication on the phone with loved ones. The organization wrote about this on its Twitter account.
Aslanov who was convicted in April 2021 for 16 years on charges of treason, was recognized as a political prisoner.
In turn, the Committee to Protect Journalists also on Twitter called on the Azerbaijani authorities to immediately release Aslanov.
"The imprisonment of a critical journalist on trumped-up charges only aggravates Azerbaijan's reputation as the leading prison for journalists in Eurasia," CPJ said. -02D-
