Justice Ministry registers Tural Abbasly's Party
Baku/04.09.23/Turan: The Ministry of Justice has registered the "Ag Partiya" (White Party), its chairman Tural Abbasly informed Turan about it.
According to him, an official letter was received from the Ministry of Justice on 4 September as saying that the Party was registered in line with the new Law on Political Parties.
Abbasly pointed out that "Ag Party" submitted the registry data of the organisation's 10,000 members to the Justice Ministry and was registered at the second attempt.
Recall that Abbasly was a former member of the Musavat Party and repeatedly arrested by the authorities. However, in recent years he has dissociated himself from the traditional opposition and focused more on social issues.
Note that the re-registration of parties is due to the requirements of the new Law on Political Parties, which came into force in January this year. The Law obliges parties to have at least 5,000 members, whose registry data must be submitted to the Ministry of Justice.
Add that only the ruling party "Yeni Azerbaijan" has been registered before.
The Ministry of Justice responded negatively to the leading opposition parties PPFA, Musavat and REAL and suggested that they resubmit their documents through eliminating the shortcomings as identified by the Ministry.
The Law on Parties was criticised by the opposition and received a negative expert opinion from the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe. -06В-
