Karen Donfried meets with Azerbaijani civil society
Baku/17.06.22/Turan: U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Karen Donfried met with representatives of Azerbaijani civil society during her visit to Azerbaijan. This is informed by the U.S. Embassy in Baku.
Anar Mammadli, head of the Election Monitoring and Democracy Training Center, Mehriban Rahimli, adviser to the German Marshall Fund, and Shahla Humbatova, a lawyer, attended the meeting.
"The U.S. continues to support Azerbaijan's efforts to ensure lasting peace in the region, strengthen respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms, democratic electoral processes and economic diversification," Donfried said at the meeting.
As a part of her visit, she held meetings with President Ilham Aliyev and Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, the report said. -16D06-
