Large Group of Military Men Awarded Medals for Liberation of Sugovushan, Gubadly
Baku / 29.12.20 / Turan: On December 29, the head of state Ilham Aliyev issued an order on awarding the medal "For the Liberation of Sugovushan" and "For the Liberation of Gubadly" to a large group of servicemen of the Azerbaijani army.
Among those awarded are commanders of formations, units and subunits, generals and officers, sergeants and privates.
The medal "For the Liberation of Sugovushan" was awarded to servicemen who showed heroism and courage in the battles in the north of Karabakh.
Sugovushan (formerly Madagiz) is a key settlement with a large reservoir and power plant. The supply of irrigation water to several low-lying regions of Azerbaijan depends on this reservoir.
Gubadly is a strategic border region of Azerbaijan, which was under Armenian occupation for 28 years. -02D-
