Large-scale exercises of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan in Nakhchivan
Baku / 12.11.19 / Turan: As part of the operational exercises that are conducted at the Azerbaijan Army level, military formations and units of the troops of the Nakhchivan garrison have been put on alert and brought up to a level of combat readiness.
During the exercises, which are held in three stages, first echelon units work out actions to hold off sudden offense of the imaginary enemy, to deploy military command and control bodies of Army Corps, formations and units on the terrain, to organize the partial reception of combat training specialists and equipment from the mobilization reserve, as well as practical actions of combined arms, tank, assault forces and counter-sabotage reserves in the live-fire tactical exercises.
The Minister of Defense, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov held an official meeting with the leadership of the ministry concerning the start of operational exercises at the Azerbaijan Army level.
During the meeting held in the Battle Control Center, it was reported that according to the exercises plan the Army Corps and formation, as well as the types and branches of troops of the Azerbaijan Army, have been put on alert and brought up to a level of full combat readiness.
The Minister of Defense visited the operational planning groups of various types of troops and gave relevant instructions on bringing decisions and combat missions to the notice of troops and units. -02D-

On November 15, animal rights activist Kamran Mammadli was detained while staging a protest at the COP29 climate conference. Mammadli was protesting the shooting of street dogs in Azerbaijan. He raised a sign above his head that read: "Azerbaijani authorities are shooting dogs on the streets!" He also shouted: "Resign those who teach youth to be sycophants under the guise of volunteerism!"

The United States has been working with Azerbaijan for a long time on energy issues and fossil fuel emissions, particularly focusing on technologies that reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and help transition to clean energy, the U.S. Secretary of Energy Jennifer M. Granholm stated at a press conference on November 15 during COP29 in Baku, in response to a question from Turan about how the U.S. can assist Azerbaijan in its transition to renewable and green energy.
