Levon Ter-Petrosyan's team member called on Azerbaijan to return occupied lands
Yerevan / 01.08.18 / Turan: Member of the "Armenian National Congress" Zoya Tadevosyan stated at a briefing in Yerevan that it is necessary to return the occupied territories around Nagorno-Karabakh to Azerbaijan. "We call them liberated. In fact, you are well aware that in this audience everyone understands that these are occupied territories," she said. When asked by journalists whether these lands should be returned, Zoya Tadevosyan stated: "None of you need to take offense at me, but it is not me who makes decision. This issue has always been co-chaired, and in general, discussed at the negotiating table. If the issue is about settlement through the return of territories, then, of course, this is correct. "
She added that the Armenian side considers these territories to be liberated, but the international community holds a different opinion, considers these lands seizures , or "occupied".
When asked if she asked the opinion of the population of Karabakh, Tadevosyan answered: "I did not ask anyone about anything, I'm stating a fact." In turn, Tadevosyan's statement caused a stormy reaction in Karabakh. Thus, the assistant to the separatist leader David Babayan called this statement "a political betrayal of national interests, and a manifestation of moral degradation."
Arthur Aghabekyan, former deputy commander of the Karabakh forces, and Arshavir Garamyan, former head of the Security Service of the separatists, said the same.
The latter urged the population of Karabakh to go to the streets and protest against the idea of returning the territories around the former Nagorno Karabakh. -02D-
