London, Paris, Islamabad on Ceasefire in Karabakh
Baku / 11.11.20 / Turan: The United Kingdom welcomes the agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab wrote about this in his Twitter account.
He noted that Azerbaijan and Armenia made difficult decisions to prevent further victims. “The parties must work together to achieve lasting peace for the benefit of citizens,” Raab said.
In turn, the French Foreign Ministry called on the parties to immediately resume negotiations for a long-term settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
“The resumption of negotiations between the parties is still necessary after the declared ceasefire. As a co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, France will actively participate in these efforts,” the French Foreign Ministry said in the statement.
“The talks should allow people displaced by the conflict in recent weeks to return and determine the future status of Nagorno-Karabakh,” the statement said.
At the same time, the French Foreign Ministry notes "sincere friendship with the Armenian people", which is a manifestation of sympathy for one side of the conflict, and this is incompatible with the mediating role of Paris.
The Pakistani Foreign Ministry in its statement congratulated Azerbaijan on the liberation of the occupied territories.
"Pakistan has always supported the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict on the basis of international law and UN Security Council resolutions. Pakistan welcomes the agreement on the cessation of hostilities by the parties. The trilateral agreement creates a new opportunity for restoring peace in the South Caucasus region. We congratulate the government of Azerbaijan and the brotherly Azerbaijani people on the liberation of the territories," the Pakistani MFA said in the statement. -02D-
