Media: Turkey Plans to Open Military Base in Nakhchivan
Baku / 03.09.18 / Turan: After Somalia and Qatar, Turkey can open its third overseas military base in the Nakhchivan region of Azerbaijan.
According to Turan, this is stated in the article by the well-known Turkish observer of the popular newspaper Sözcü, Zeynep Gürcanlı, published on September 3.
Gürcanlı notes in her article that today Turkey and Russia are allies on many issues, but they have differences on regional issues. In particular, this is Moscow"s open military support of Armenia. Therefore, Russia's reaction to the establishment of a Turkish base in Nakhchivan can be mixed, Gürcanlı said.
At the same time, the author does not point to sources of her information about Ankara's plans to create a base in Nakhchivan. The material also does not say anything about Baku's position on this issue. -11B-
