Meeting of Heads of Border Guards of Azerbaijan and Georgia
Baku / 07.05.19 / Turan: The situation on the border of Azerbaijan and Georgia was discussed on May 7 at a meeting of the heads of the border agencies of the two countries - Elchin Guliyev and Teimuraz Kekelidze, which was held on the official territory of Shamkir of the state border service of Azerbaijan.
The State Border Service of Azerbaijan reports that the sides discussed the operational situation at the state border, joint measures in the field of border security, and information exchange.
It was stressed that the level of relations between the border structures of Azerbaijan and Georgia makes it possible to jointly resolve issues to eliminate illegal activities at the state border.
The meeting was held in a friendly and fraternal understanding, noted in the message.
Recall that in recent days, tensions have arisen on the border of the two countries because of the desire of several NGOs of Georgia to decide about the ownership of a part of the David Gareji monastery located on the Azerbaijani side. -06D-

Arrested economist Fazil Gasimov has reportedly faced pressure after protesting the interruption of a phone call with his family on November 16. "The phone call was cut off, and Fazil demanded that the connection be restored. Then, Jalal Alizadeh, a detention center officer, along with his colleagues, forcibly removed Fazil from the phone room in the medical unit of the facility, tearing his jacket and dragging him across the floor before throwing him into a cell.
