Meeting of Ilham Aliyev with the British Minister of the Armed Forces
Baku/30.03.22/Turan: On Wednesday the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received the Minister of the Armed Forces of Great Britain, a member of the British Parliament James Hippie.
Noting the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Great Britain, the parties stated effective cooperation in various fields; exchanged views on the prospects for cooperation in the oil and gas sector, in trade, transport and defense, on investments in the Azerbaijani economy.
Ilham Aliyev spoke about the post-conflict processes in the region after the end of the Second Karabakh War.
Today the British Minister was received by Azerbaijani Defense Minister Zakir Hasanov. Among others, issues of cooperation in the military sphere were discussed. -06В-

According to the Turkish newspaper Sabah, officials from the Istanbul Prosecutor's Office's Anti-Smuggling Unit have detained an Azerbaijani citizen with a large shipment of gold. The detention took place near the Vadi İstanbul shopping center in the Sarıyer district, where a taxi was stopped. During the search, 70 kg of gold was found. The Azerbaijani citizen in the vehicle claimed ownership of the cargo and also stated that he was a diplomat. The investigation by the prosecutor's office is ongoing, reports Sabah newspaper. The media outlet does not disclose the name of the "diplomat," only his initials – M.G.Ş. The Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs has declined to comment on the situation.
