Meeting of the Presidents of the United States and Russia in Helsinki
Baku/16.07.18/Turan: Negotiations between the Presidents of the United States and Russia took place in the Finnish capital on Monday. In the presence of journalists, Putin said that the meeting will discuss both bilateral relations and the international agenda. Donald Trump congratulated Putin on the successful holding of the World Cup in Russia. According to Trump, the issues of trade, nuclear weapons, the conversation will also go about China. Trump also expressed the hope that Russia and the United States will manage to establish relations. One-to-one talks between Putin and Trump began after the photo session, and then with the participation of members of delegations.
In parallel with the meeting between Trump and Putin, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo meets with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
The White House said that at the end of the meeting an official declaration will not be issued. The leaders, however, will hold a press conference. -02D-

The next municipal elections in Azerbaijan will take place on January 29, 2025, Mazahir Panahov, the head of the Central Election Commission (CEC), said at a meeting of the commission. It is worth noting that in recent years, there has been a policy of consolidating municipalities. Following changes to the legislation earlier this year, which provide for the consolidation of municipalities, their number has been reduced from 1,400 to 685.

By the decree of the President of Azerbaijan, Siyavush Kerimi has been relieved of his duties as rector of the National Conservatory. By another decree from the head of state, Khamila Dadashzade has been appointed as the new rector of the institution. Previously, she headed the Department of Music History and Theory at the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts. Dadashzade is a member of the Union of Composers of Azerbaijan.
