Merkel : Russia is acting according to the law of the jungle
In the Crimean issue Russia acts under the law of the jungle, said German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Thursday in the Bundestag. According to her, Vladimir Putin is acting according to the principles of the 19th century.
Merkel called Russia's desire to join the Crimea a clear violation of international law and an attempt to take advantage of the weakness of Ukraine. "Russia is acting according to the law of the jungle," she said.
Leader of Germany believes that the continuation of this policy would be a disaster not only for Ukraine: "The whole of Europe will feel the Russian threat."
Merkel stressed that the EU is ready to impose sanctions, which eventually will become tougher and affect economic cooperation with Russia in all areas. German Chancellor noted that the EU and the USA are trying to find a political solution to the conflict, while Russian refuses to contact with Ukraine. -02D-
