MFA on 27th Anniversary of Occupation of Shusha
Baku / 08.05.19 / Turan: The visit of the Armenian leadership to the occupied city of Shusha and the celebration of the "victory day" there is another provocation of the Armenian side and once again demonstrates the direct participation of Armenia in the occupation of the territories of Azerbaijan. This is stated in the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan in connection with the 27th anniversary of the occupation of Shusha.
A visit by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to Shusha on May 9 "proves once again that this country continues to exercise control in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan," the statement said.
"If the negotiations do not put an end to the occupation of Azerbaijani territories by Armenia, Azerbaijan retains the right to restore territorial integrity and sovereignty within its internationally recognized borders, as enshrined in the UN Charter," the statement says.
* The largest Azerbaijani settlement of Nagorno-Karabakh, the city of Shusha, was occupied by Armenian forces as a result of the military attack on May 8-9, 1992. The attack on the city occurred after the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a peace agreement in Tehran. -02D-
