"Musavat" condemns the exclusion of Yalchin Imanov from the Bar Association
Baku / 23. 11.17 / Turan: Musavat party issued a statement in connection with the removal Yalchin Imanov, a well-known advocate of political prisoners from the Bar Association. The statement says that the exclusion of Imanov is a continuation of the policy to create a judicial system without opponents. The party regards this step by the authorities as a complete elimination of the fair trial system.
On November 20, the Bar Association of the country terminated Imanov's lawyer powers and appealed to the court. The reason for the persecution of the lawyer was Imanov's statement that condemned to 20 years imprisonment of a resident of Nardaran Abbas Huseyn is subjected to savage tortures in Gobustan prison.
The penitentiary service regarded this as "actions aimed at violating public stability" and applied to the Bar Association. Earlier, lawyers Alaif Hasanov, Khalid Bagirov, Elchin Namazov and several other well-known lawyers who defended oppositionists and political prisoners were excluded from the Bar Association. -05D-
