Musavat Does Not Recognize Results of Municipal Elections
The party Musavat considers that the December 23 municipal elections were not democratic, free or fair. This was announced at the press conference by the leaders of Musavat today.
The Deputy Chairman of the Party Gulaga Aslanli called the elections a "farce" and "elections without voters."
Aslanly himself watched 8 sites and said he did not see any voter there.
Another Deputy Chairman of Musavat, lawyer Elman Fattah unveiled the party’s initial conclusion about the elections.
He recalled that Musavat as a party did not participate in the elections because of the lack of conditions for free, democratic and fair elections and also because the election commissions are under the total control of the authorities.
At the same time, the party monitored 300 sites and identified numerous violations and deficiencies.
So, on the day of voting there were no observers in many areas, "carousel" operations were conducted, with massive ballot box stuffing, pre-cast ballots in the ballot box and ignoring the votes cast in favor of the opposition.
Few candidates of Musavat nominated on their own initiative were not registered by the election commissions, while the ruling party New Azerbaijan had about 15 thousand people registered.
Fattah called the election a "one-party" action.
According to him, the lists of the "elected" members of the municipalities were known in advance of the election.
With this in mind, Musavat refused to recognize the election results. -05C-
