Musavat urged the authorities to take example from Russia
The Musavat party set up the Committee for the Rights of its Deputy Head Tofig Yagublu arrested on the Ismayilli events. The decision was taken at a meeting of the Board of the party yesterday.
The Committee is headed by one of the leading figures of Musavat Gubad Ibadoglu.
The committee also includes the human right defenders Novella Jafaroglu, Ilgar Ibrahimoglu, etc. The Committee will also focus on protecting the rights of the leader of Republican Alternative (REAL) Ilgar Mamedov, in collaboration with this movement.
The participants of the meeting also condemned the amendments made to the legislation to tighten financial controls over the activities of NGOs.
It was pointed out that in Russia there also have been significantly increased penalties for violating the rules of rallies. However, the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation recommended that the Parliament review the law and the courts suspend the trials until the application to the State Duma for the new solution. If the Azerbaijani authorities take the example of Russia, now we could follow the same way.
The participants of the meeting also touched upon the issue of obstruction by the authorities of the trip of the leader of Musavat Isa Gambar to Lankaran and the attack on his motorcade. Despite the fact that a month has passed, the prosecution still does not investigate the case. Moreover, the office of the local organization of Musavat was closed.
In addition, the organization of Musavat in Sumgait is suing the executive of the city, in connection with the illegal seizure of their office given by the State Property Committee as premises to another organization.
Musavat condemned the pressure on the local organizations of the party and demanded the authorities create conditions for normal political activities in the regions. -06D –
