Washington D.C./14.02.23/Turan: The Biden Administration officials on Monday defended the President's orders for the military to shoot down unknown objects during the past few days, saying that uncertainty of the surveillance capabilities of them led to the move, TURAN's Washington correspondent reports from the White House.

Three more suspicious objects have been downed across North America over the weekend, roughly a week after the U.S. shot down a Chinese surveillance balloon off the coast of South Caroline.

However, officials on Monday declined to identify what the three objects might be, and whether they imposed any direct threat to the U.S..

"... We don’t know for sure whether they had a surveillance aspect to them, but we can’t rule it out. So, there was a little bit, there was enough uncertainty there that again, out of an abundance of caution, doing the prudent thing, the president directed that they get taken down,” National Security Council's John Kirby told reporters during a Monday briefing.

Asked by TURAN's U.S. correspondent if Washington was discussing with allies any unified steps such as potentially imposing Article 5 to address the threat, Ambassador Julianne Smith, U.S. permanent representative to NATO said the following:  "We are not discussing Article 5 at the moment as it relates to any of the incidents in regards to UFOs that have been shot down in recent days.  So, no action here at NATO headquarters."
