Nalbandian Accused Azerbaijan of Unwillingness to Settle Karabakh Conflict
Baku / 21.11.17 / Turan: Azerbaijan withdraws from the agreements reached and does not want to negotiate on the basic principles. That is why it is not possible to reach a settlement of the Karabakh conflict. Such a statement was made by the Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian at a joint press conference with the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Yerevan today, when answering the question what is the reason for the failure of the talks.
In particular, Nalbandian accused Baku of refusing to comply with the agreements reached and discussed at a high level since 2011. "Specific agreements were reached in Kazan, Sochi, St. Petersburg, Vienna and elsewhere, but after returning to Baku, the Azerbaijani side refused its own words," Nalbandian said.
He also rejected accusations of Baku about Armenia"s unwillingness to implement the UN Security Council"s four resolutions on the withdrawal of Armenian forces from the occupied territories. "The resolutions were adopted with a view to ending hostilities, but each time Baku disrupted their execution," the Armenian minister said.
Further, Nalbandian rejected the agreement on the meeting of the Presidents of the two countries in Vienna in December. "So far, there is no agreement of the sort, and holding this meeting is not discussed," he said.
In his turn, Sergei Lavrov reiterated what he said in Baku two days ago that all the settlement options on the negotiating table. "They are in a common package, and they cannot be separated from each other," he said. "I do not have much optimism, but we need to continue negotiations," Lavrov said. -02D-
