National Council Does Not Recognize Election Results
Baku / 11.04.18 / Turan: "The elections on April 11 were not conducted in accordance with Azerbaijan's international obligations and the country's Constitution. They do not reflect the will of the Azerbaijani people, they are illegitimate and the National Council does not recognize their results." This was stated by the National Council of Democratic Forces (NCDF) on the evening of April 11 in connection with the extraordinary presidential elections in Azerbaijan (full text of the statement).
According to the NCDF, the elections were held in the context of a flagrant violation of the national electoral legislation, international standards, and the restriction of fundamental rights and freedoms.
The NCDF also pointed out the existence of political prisoners and the complete elimination of civil society. According to the NCDF, the electoral institutions are destroyed in the country, and there is no fair judicial system.
In reality, 15-16 percent of voters took part in the voting. On the voting day, the falsifications of previous elections were repeated - "carousels" were organized, and some people voted many times. In many areas, ballot stuffing was noted.
In conclusion, the NCDF demanded the restoration of the people's right to elections and declared they would continue to fight for free and fair elections in the country.
Recall the NCDF boycotted the presidential elections. -06D--
