Ilham Aliyev Wins Presidential Elections in Azerbaijan
Baku / 12.04.18 / Turan: Ilham Aliyev leads in the presidential elections of April 11 with 86.09 percent of voters for him. The head of the Central Electoral Committee Mazahir Panahov announced this on late April 11 on the state television of Azerbaijan. He announced preliminary data on the voting results after processing 92 percent of the votes.
In the second place is Gudrat Hasanguliyev with 3.4 percent of the vote. Then follow Zahid Oruj (3.07%), Sardar Jalaloglu (2.97%), Hafiz Hajiyev (1.51%), Araz Alizadeh (1.4%), Faraj Guliyev (1.18%) and Razi Nurullayev (0.74%).
Aliyev himself in a televised address to the people thanked voters for their confidence. "The Azerbaijani people voted for stability, security and development," he said.
Touching upon the Karabakh conflict, he said the problem can be resolved only within the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
Azerbaijan implements large energy and transport projects, he continued. "The Azerbaijani state has never been as strong as it is today. We have created a strong Azerbaijan, and we will further strengthen our country," Aliyev said. ----0-
