Nazim Beidamirli calls himself a prisoner of ecology - lawyer
Baku/10.08.23 /Turan: On August 10, lawyer Agyl Laidj met with former deputy of the Milli Majlis, economist Nazim Beidamirli in the pre-trial detention center. According to the lawyer, Nazim Beidamirli considers himself a prisoner of ecology, because his arrest is connected with the events in the village of Seyudlu, and the current accusation against him is complete nonsense. The attempts to get comments in the Penitentiary Service were futile.
*On July 5, the Narimanov District Court, chaired by Judge Vusal Gurbanov, chose Nazim Beidamirli as a preventive measure for 4 months. The former deputy was charged under Article 182.2.4 of the Criminal Code (demand by threat, committed in order to obtain property on a large scale). Initially, information was spread on social networks about the detention of local residents as suspects in connection with protest actions in the village of Soyudlu of the Gedabey region in the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Beidamirli.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Beidamirli was detained at the request of a citizen.
"A citizen turned to the police, saying that Nazim Beidamirli blackmailed him with compromising footage and demanded 50,000 manats from him not to publish them. On July 10, the Baku Court of Appeal upheld the decision of the Narimanov District Court on pre-trial detention against Baydamirli.
Human rights activists consider the arrest of the former deputy political and believe that he was detained for supporting the protest of local residents of Soyudlu village protesting against the damage to their village from the gold mine in Soyudlu village of Gedabey region. ----16---
