New Disclosures from Elshad Abdullayev
A Video message appeared today on You Tube from Elshad Abdullayev, the exiled former rector of the Azerbaijan International University (AIU), to General Prosecutor Zakir Garalov and Azerbaijan media.
Abdullayev reported that after posting the You Tube the video, confirming receipt by deputy Gular Ahmedova of $ 2 million to be transferred to the Head of Presidential Administration, Ramiz Mehdiyev, and the election of Abdullayev as deputy to parliament, threats came to his address in the media and social networks.
According to Abdullayev, threats came from the organized crime network in Azerbaijan engaged in kidnapping. A few years ago, the same group kidnapped Mahir Abdullayev, Elshad Abdullayev’s brother.
E. Abdullayev stresses that he gave the money to being elected to the Parliament, because he hopes that once he is elected, he will have new opportunities to find his kidnapped brother.
Concerning the source of the money, Abdullayev said that he has been doing business for 30 years and his money is legal.
He said that while he was still in Azerbaijan, he passed the prosecutor’s office numerous audio and video documents testifying to the activities of an organized crime network, including kidnapping people. These materials have not been investigated.
"Organized criminal network is in government structures, and uses the power and capabilities of the state," said E. Abdullayev, and added that he gave to the prosecutor only half of the facts that he possesses. He called on the General Prosecutor to investigate those facts, and the act of passing money to Gular Ahmedova.
"As a victim, I demand to investigate all of these videos, and bring to justice the guilty," said Abdullayev.—06D-
