NIDA Activist Mahammad Azizov Placed in Solitary Confinement
Contained in prison in Kurdakhani, the NIDA activist Mahammad Azizov has been enclosed in a solitary confinement box . Turan was told by the NIDA movement.
According to the same source, activists of NIDA delivered some food for him to the detention center on Wednesday. However, the prison administration said that Azizov was imprisoned in solitary confinement, but did not explain why he was punished and when he was placed into the solitary confinement box.
May 30 Azizov's lawyer Fariz Namazly intends to visit the prison and understand the reasons for punishment of the defendant.
It should be noted that last week Azizov filed a lawsuit against the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the TV channel AzTv.
The young man asks the court to declare it a violation of the presumption of innocence and the payment of monetary compensation for moral damages in the amount of 10,000 manat.
According to the lawyer, Azizov accused of drug possession was forced to confess under psychological pressure in the DHS prison and videos of the interrogations were shown on TV, including AzTv. In this case, the young man was introduced as a drug addict.
Recall that on March 9 TV channels showed footage of rapid interrogations of the arrested activists of NIDA - Azizov, Bakhtiyar Guliyev and Shahin Novruzlu. It was argued that young people prepared a protest rally on March 10 and planned to use "Molotov cocktails" against the police and gave the protesters drugs.
NIDA movement called it a provocation by the authorities against political opponents. Subsequently, four more activists were arrested.
Amnesty International has recognized the detainees "prisoners of conscience». -16B06-
