"No Surprise Iran Continues To Destabilize The Region" — White House On Iran-Azerbaijan Tension
Washington D.C./24.04.23/Turan: The White House on Monday commented on the tensions between Iran and Azerbaijan, which have been steadily ramping up in recent months, and divisive incidents have become more frequent, TURAN's Washington correspondent reports.
"It comes with no surprise that Iran would be continuing to destabilize activities in the region there," National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby told TURAN's correspondent.
Kirby was speaking to reporters at the State Department's Washington Foreign Press Center.
When asked by TURAN about Washington's position on increasing concerns over military confrontation between Iran and Azerbaijan, Kirby said, "we've very clear: we don't certainly want to see violence or conflict persist there."
Kirby also commented on Azerbaijan's recent opening of its Embassy in Israel: "Broadly speaking, we continue to support all the efforts to integrate Israel into the region"
