On Victory Day WWII Veterans to Receive AZN 700
President Ilham Aliyev signed an order on April 23, "On providing one-time financial assistance to participants of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, widows and dead soldiers later, persons awarded orders and medals for their selfless work in the rear."
According to the document, veterans of the Great Patriotic War (WWII) 1941-1945 will be paid one-time financial assistance in the amount of 700 manats.
In addition, a lump sum of 300 manats will be paid to widows of soldiers in the Second World War, and soldiers that died later, persons awarded orders and medals for their selfless work in the rear, the employees of special forces that carried out orders in the interests of the army and navy; persons awarded the appropriate medal and badge for the defense of Leningrad, and the participants of the blockade of Leningrad.
For these purposes from the Reserve Fund of the President there has been allocated AZN 9 million.
The order is timed to the 68th anniversary of the victory over fascism.
According to the National Council of Veterans, as of 1 January 2013 in Azerbaijan there remained alive 1960 war veterans, about 5,000 widows of war veterans and about 20,000 veterans of the rear. -06D -a
