Opposition Activist Locked Up with Drug Addicts
Baku / 05.11.19 / Turan: The Baku Court of Appeal upheld the decision on 30-day administrative arrest of a youth activist of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan, journalist Shamistan Haziyev.
He was detained on October 30 and arrested for 30 days on charges of "petty hooliganism."
The young man today complained in court of physical pressure on him in the Binagadi detention center for administratively arrested people.
At the same time, he noted that on November 4 he was detained in a cell along with drug addicts and hepatitis carriers and HIV-infected people.
“Today I called my lawyer Shahla Humbatova to report this. But our conversation was interrupted and they threatened me that they would no longer allow me to call and that in general it would be "bad." My protests are not accepted,” the young man said. —21C-
