Baku/05.09.23/Turan: Over the past 20 days, four customs officials have been arrested on charges of taking bribes.
The Prosecutor General's office announced the next arrest of a corrupt customs officer on September 5. Thus, the head of the Department of the Main Risk and Audit Department Anar Aslanov was brought to criminal responsibility. He is suspected that in June-August 2023, he illegally registered the import of about 400 cars manufactured more than 10 years ago to Azerbaijan from Georgia, receiving bribes for 55 thousand manats for this.
He was charged under Article 308.2 (abuse of official authority, which entailed grave consequences) and 311.3.3 (receiving a large-scale bribe). The Criminal Code and the court's decision arrested him.
On August 16 and 29, as well as on September 1, the Prosecutor General's Office reported the arrests of three more officials of the country's Customs Committee on similar charges. ---03B06---
