Palestine relies on the support of Baku while dopting the UN resolution on Israel
Following the talks between Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Palestine - Elmar Mammadyarov and Riyad al-Maliki, a memorandum of consultations between the Foreign Ministries of the two countries was signed. At a joint press conference Mammadyarov said that the parties agreed to hold political consultations in Baku and Ramallah once a year. There were also discussions on expanding cooperation in the social sphere, and in particular in the field of education.
An increase in the number of Palestinian students studying in Azerbaijan is alo provided.
Azerbaijan will continue its humanitarian assistance to Palestine, and its support for international organizations. Al-Maliki stated about the interest of Palestine to continue cooperation with Azerbaijan. He also informed them of the arrangements for the development of cooperation in various fields.
The parties also exchanged views on issues of mutual concern, particularly in Syria, Iraq, Lebanon and others countries in the Middle East.
Palestine hopes to get the support of Azerbaijan on the new draft UN resolution on Israel, which will be presented at the General Assembly. Nine states have already agreed to support the resolution, he said, without revealing the content of the future doucment. -03B06-
