Parliamentary delegation of Azerbaijan arrived in Northern Cyprus
Baku/16.07.21/ Turan: On July 16, the parliamentary delegation of Azerbaijan arrived in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) to commemorate the 47th anniversary of the landing of Turkish troops in Cyprus in order to ensure the safety of Turkish Cypriots, kibrispostasi.com reports.
Receiving the delegation of the Committee on International Affairs and Interparliamentary Relations of the Milli Mejlis of Azerbaijan headed by Samed Seyidov, Prime Minister of the TRNC Ersan Saner expressed confidence that the Republic of Azerbaijan, together with the Republic of Turkey, will support the Turkish Cypriot people in their national cause.
The delegation included Azerbaijani deputies Asim Mollazade, Erkin Gadirli, Nigar Arpadarai, and Nasib Mahamaliyev.
In turn, Seyidov said that they would defend the rights and justice of Northern Cyprus in the Council of Europe.
He also stressed that there is no government or opposition in the Cyprus issue in Azerbaijan: “This is our land. In the Turkic world there is Turkey, in the Turkic world there is Azerbaijan, in the Turkic world there is Northern Cyprus”.
Seyidov stated that the visit to the TRNC was scheduled on July 16-19, but when they were informed that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan would be in Northern Cyprus on July 20, they decided to extend their visit and they would be on the island on July 20.
Seyidov noted that the political delegation from Azerbaijan arrived in Northern Cyprus “for the first time”, but the visits will continue. He said, “We want Northern Cyprus to be strong. The Turkish world will rise. For this, Turkey, Azerbaijan and Northern Cyprus must be together,” he said.
“I believe that the Republic of Azerbaijan will support us in this regard together with the Republic of Turkey in the coming periods,” saner said and gave information on the meetings held in Crans-Montana and Geneva.
The prime minister said that they saw that the Greek mentality in Geneva has not changed and that it is impossible to reach an agreement as long as this mentality persists.
“There is peace in Cyprus, only an agreement is missing. We live in peace. The status of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is increasing every day. The Festival of Peace and Freedom, which we will celebrate this year for the 47th time, coincides with the Eid al-Adha. Therefore, we celebrate two holidays together. Through you, I congratulate the entire Azerbaijani people on the holiday of Eid al-Adha,” Saner said. —0-
