Pashazadeh urges the international community to condemn the genocide in Khojaly

The Caucasian Muslims Office ( CMO) today hosted an event dedicated to the 22nd anniversary of the Khojaly genocide, which was attended by representatives of different religious confessions of Azerbaijan.

As the head of CMO Sheikh Allahshukur Pashazadeh noted, Armenian armed formations committed the Khojaly massacre that became one of the heinous crimes against humanity.

Calling the events in Khojaly genocide, Pashazadeh stressed that certain forces in Moscow had also been involved in the crime, as soldiers of the 366th regiment of the former Soviet Army took part in the military operation against civilians.

Pashazadeh confirmed Azerbaijan's commitment to peaceful ways of settling the Karabakh problem, adding that there are other ways to liberate the occupied territories, and they can also be used.

Participants of the event made ??an appeal to the parliaments of the world to recognize and condemn the genocide in Khojaly, and demanded punishment of the perpetrators, as well as exerting pressure on Armenia for the withdrawal of its occupying forces from the Azerbaijani territories.

In the night from 25 to 26 February 1992 Armenian armed forces with the support of the 366th regiment of the former Soviet Army seized the town of Khojaly in Nagorno-Karabakh. The capture was accompanied by massacres of civilians. The invaders killed more than 613 people, including women, children and elderly people. -05C06 -
