Pashinyan on readiness to sign peace agreement with Azerbaijan
Baku/31.03.22/Turan: Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan hopes to discuss and agree on all issues related to the launch of peace negotiation process at his upcoming meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Brussels.
Pashinyan said Thursday at a government meeting that the Armenian side maintains proposals to stabilize the situation on the border with Azerbaijan, as well as in Nagorno-Karabakh, "where all kinds of provocations, both armed and psychological, should be stopped," the Armenian media quoted Pashinyan.
In particular, Pashinyan said that Armenia accepts Baku's proposals of the 5 points for a peace agreement, but considers it necessary to include an item on security
guarantees for Karabakh Armenians
Recall that Baku's proposals include as follows: 1) mutual recognition of sovereignty, territorial integrity, inviolability of international borders; 2) mutual confirmation of the absence of territorial claims and not their presentation in the future; 3) the parties undertake to refrain from threatening security and using force against independence and territorial integrity; 4) delimitation and demarcation of state borders, establishment of diplomatic relations; 5) opening of transport and communications and cooperation in other areas.
Meanwhile, against the background of Yerevan's statements on the acceptance of these proposals, the Karabakh separatists declare that it is impossible to be a part of Azerbaijan, and they adopt "laws" on the "occupation of Karabakh territory by Azerbaijan".
Besides, the Karabakh Armenians refuse to disarm and claim that the struggle for Karabakh's independence is a priority.
Finally, the Armenian authorities refuse to free seven villages of Azerbaijan occupied in early 90s in Gazakh region.
All this shows that the Armenian side is not ready for a peaceful solution to the conflict. -02B-
