Pashinyan on the exchange of enclaves
Baku/22.05.23/Turan: The territorial integrity of Azerbaijan in 86,600 square kilometers includes the so-called enclaves, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated during a press conference in Yerevan on Monday. Artsvashen
(Bashkend) is included in 29,800 square kilometers of the territory of Armenia, and three enclaves are also included in 86,600 square kilometers of the territory of Azerbaijan, Pashinyan said.
There are several options for solving this issue: one of them is to leave the enclaves under the control of the side on which they are located. That is, according to the principle of equivalence of territories with the specification of square kilometers.
"Suppose we measure the territory of Artsvashen, other enclaves, and, accordingly, make sure that everything was based on the principle of equality," he said. Another option is that after the signing of the peace treaty, Artsvashen will return to the sovereignty of Armenia, and the other three enclaves to the sovereignty of Azerbaijan. According to Pashinyan, discussions on this issue with Azerbaijan are continuing.
* Occupied by the Azerbaijani army in 1992, the Armenian settlement of Bashkend (Artsvashen) occupies 40 square kilometers. During the same period, the Armenian army occupied seven Azerbaijani villages belonging to the Gazakh region and one village belonging to Nakhchivan - Kyarki.
Yukhary Askipara — 8.6 sq. km, (enclave)
Ashagi Askipara – 9.1 sq . km,
Baganis Ayrim — 40 sq. km,
Barkhudarly — 10.1 sq. km, (enclave)
Sofulu — 22 sq. km, (enclave)
Gizil Hajili — 11 sq. km,
Heimli — 4.1 sq. km,
Kyarki — 19.2 sq. km. (enclave)
Of the above-mentioned villages of Gazakh, three are enclaves, that is, they are surrounded by the territory of Armenia. The rest are border villages.
The total area of the occupied seven villages of the Gazakh region and one village of NAR is 124 square kilometers, which is three times more than the territory of the settlement Bashkend. ---02D---
